ALMOST FORGOT WHAT CALM LOOKS LIKE

In this project, we explored typographic staging in space through projection and installation, using materials that enhanced the meaning of the chosen word. The final result was captured on video.
We selected the word Friktion (friction), favoring the German spelling for its visual appeal—especially the interaction between the letters “F” and “K.” Our typographic approach centered on the materials plastic and fabric, emphasizing both readability and expressive form.
To highlight the concept of friction as both contrast and connection, we combined two typefaces:
- FRIK in Helvetica Neue Bold
- TION in Iridium LT Pro Roman
Selective animation was applied to parts of the text to reinforce the concept without overwhelming the viewer.
For the installation, we experimented with different setups and ultimately suspended the fabric and plastic on poles, creating an immersive, room-like space. This allowed viewers to walk through and engage directly with the projections and animations.
